LADY ANNE'S TRADITIONS - PASSING ON THE GOOD STUFF
Sewing: An Art Very Much Alive & Fun!

I learned to sew when I was a young preteen girl and it started as a project at school.  I made a bag for curlers and my bag was different from everyone else's.  WOW!  That concept was very appealing to me since being "unique" has always been part of my description.  I went on to sew clothes that I designed and could show off in clothes like no one else owned.    I made bathing suits to match my towel, pants that were outrageously wild and turned many heads.

I learned to make diapers and little baby shirts that matched when I was going to have a baby.  The idea thrilled me to have clothes for my baby like no one else.  When my little boy had doctor appointments etc., they called him "fancy pants."   When you know how to sew you can be an individual and it's alway nice to know how to repair and alter clothing.
Being able to repair and alter your family's clothing saves time and money.  I used to sew patches on military uniforms for my husband and that saved us lots of money we didn't have.    Here are a couple of examples of diapers I made for my grandson, Collin Scott Lucero.  Now I know that cloth diapers may seem archaic, but they are sometimes necessary, whether it is to save money or to save on sensitive skin.  Having diapers like these are not only adorable, but save on folding the large traditional white cloth gauze diapers.  They are sized so that an infant can wear them, and grow into them at even a 2 year old.  I have had shirt, and blankets match as well.  My receiving blankets are extremely popular since they are perfectly sized and no store has ever sold them as such.  Sewing is a heavenly skill and a gift no one can take away from a person.  I have sewn costumes for Halloween, Plays, Wedding Dresses, helped in my children's projects etc.  It's awesome to know how to sew and I have taught many people this skill, to include my own sons.
